Sanchez avoids Super Bowl spotlight

INDIANAPOLIS -- Mark Sanchez isn't going to address the Jets' locker-room mess anytime soon --at least not this week from Super Bowl XLVI.

The embattled Jets quarterback, who attended the previous two Super Bowls because of sponsor obligations, is staying away from Indianapolis this week. The word is that Sanchez's marketing partners are using him for other activities this offseason, not requiring him to be at the Super Bowl.

In case you didn't know, the Super Bowl is more than a football game. Players from other teams show up to promote products and, well, just party. Because it's one of the biggest sporting events of the year, companies usually require their spokesmen to participate in various public events.

Sanchez has been conspicuously silent; he has yet to comment on the events of the Jets' tumultuous off-season. He spoke to reporters the day after the season, but that was before the you-know-what hit the fan.
