Jets cut WR Jason Hill

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- The Jets created another roster spot Tuesday, waiving veteran WR Jason Hill. They also worked out former Jets WR Patrick Turner. The roster stands at 50.

Hill dressed but didn't play in the last two games. On Monday, he didn't participate in the team's walkthrough because of a lower-back injury. He appeared on the injury report. And now he's gone, leaving the Jets with only four receivers.

They likely will sign Jordan White or Royce Pollard from the practice squad before Thursday night's game against the Patriots.

Earlier Tuesday, the Jets waived LB Marcus Dowtin.

With only four cornerbacks on the roster, including the banged-up Aaron Berry (quadriceps), it's likely they will add a corner before the game. The only corners on the practice squad are Donnie Fletcher and Darrin Walls.

UPDATE: Hill was waived with a non-football injury designation. He told the Star-Ledger of Newark on Tuesday he hurt his back during pregame warmups Sunday in St. Louis. He didn't play in the game. Hill could file a grievance, claiming he's entitled to pay.
