As expected, the New York Jets signed LB Josh Mauga Tuesday from their practice squad. He replaces LB Kenwin Cummings, who was waived last week because his special-teams play wasn't up to par. But, wait, Cummings isn't gone. He cleared waivers and was re-signed to the practice squad.
Meanwhile, the Jets released DT Howard Green, leaving one opening on the 53-man roster. They're down to five players in the usual defensive-line rotation, but the Jets evidently believe they don't need the extra big body because Sunday figures to be a pass-heavy game against the Green Bay Packers.
