FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Veteran guard Willie Colon, a stabilizing influence on the New York Jets' rebuilding offense, suffered a torn biceps in the final game and will have surgery, a source told ESPN.com.
The timing is lousy for Colon, who will be an unrestricted free agent. He will have surgery later this week. The recovery time is about four months, which will take him into the free agency period.
Colon, who signed a one-year contract last offseason, was a solid pick-up for the Jets. He started 16 games and graded out well, especially as a run blocker. He blew past reporters after last Sunday's win in Miami, clearly upset. Now we know why.
