Interesting note included in the New York Jets' media release: Rex Ryan is one of only five head coaches in the Super Bowl era (since 1966) to reach the conference championship in his first two seasons. Taking that a step further, Ryan is one of only two to accomplish that after inheriting a team that didn't make the playoffs the year before his arrival.
Here's the Fab 5:
John Madden, Oakland Raiders -- 1969-1970
Don McCafferty, Baltimore Colts --1970-71 (first two seasons)
George Seifert, San Francisco 49ers -- 1989-90
Barry Switzer, Dallas Cowboys -- 1994-95
Rex Ryan, Jets -- 2009-10
Ryan is off to a Madden-like start in his coaching career. Does that mean he'll have his own video game some day?
