Playoff picture: 7th seed up for grabs

The Knicks and Sixers both sit at 33-30 with three games to play.

New York is in seventh place entering play Sunday because it owns the head-to-head tiebreaker against Philly.

A look at both team's remaining schedules tells you that things will be interesting the rest of the way.

Philly has road games against New Jersey (22-42), Milwaukee (30-33) and Detroit (23-40) to finish the season. The Knicks have Atlanta (38-25) on the road, the L.A. Clippers (39-24) at home and Charlotte (7-55) on the road.

If the Knicks fall to Atlanta on Sunday afternoon, they'd be sitting in eight place with Philly having a great opportunity to go a game up on Monday when they play the Nets.

Also, the Knicks hold out the smallest of hopes to climb to the sixth seed. One Orlando win or one Knicks loss clinches the sixth seed for Orlando.

Barring a miracle, the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference will face Chicago.

The Bulls' magic number to clinch the top seed in the Eastern Conference is down to one. So one more Chicago win or Miami loss will give Derrick Rose's team the No. 1 spot.

Which means, if you want to see the Knicks play the Bulls, root for Philly the rest of the way.
