Training camp is still about seven weeks away, but it looks like Carmelo Anthony is ready to hit the floor.
Anthony posted a photo on Instagram on Monday in which he looks pretty lean.
The Knicks signed the 30-year-old to a five-year contract, so they probably appreciate Anthony's being in such good shape.
He certainly looks more like a small forward than a power forward in the picture. One can't help but wonder if Anthony’s new physique will keep him from playing at the "4" this coming season, though traditional positions aren't as relevant in the triangle offense.
Anthony has had lots of success the past two seasons at power forward.
Carrying less weight is certainly a positive when you consider the length of Anthony’s contract. It's fair to assume his body will be less susceptible to nagging injuries if he has less weight on his frame. That, in turn, could increase the likelihood he remains healthy and effective during the life of the contract. Anthony has an option to opt out of the final year of the deal.
Question: What do you think of Carmelo’s new physique?
