Melo plans to play at the Palestra

The Palestra, the historic home to University of Pennsylvania basketball, is well-known for its close-to-the-court seating. For fans paying $50 to sit in those sections this coming Sunday, the experience will be extra special. That's because Carmelo Anthony will be taking the court with LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul and other NBA players in what is being called the "The Battle For I-95."

At 6 p.m., Team Melo will face off against Team Philly, and a portion of the revenue will go to charitable organizations, including the West Philadelphia Community Center and other community groups in the Philadelphia area. The event was organized by Rahim Thompson, commissioner of Philly's Chosen League, and some of the other NBA participants include Tyreke Evans (Kings), Kyle Lowry (Rockets), Hakim Warrick (Suns), Lou Williams (Sixers), Wayne Ellington (Timberwolves), Markieff (Suns) and Marcus Morris (Rockets), Jason Thompson (Kings) and Ronald Murray (ex-NBAer). There are some rumors that former Sixers legend Allen Iverson will show up.

The event will be broadcast live via the web on The Basketball Channel and on SI.com, the website's first live basketball game it's produced and streamed. To purchase tickets, go to pennathletics.com.
