LAS VEGAS 8, SACRAMENTO 5: Noah Syndergaard, who quietly had been dispatched for an MRI on his tight right forearm, made his first start for the 51s this season. Syndergaard allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits and a walk in four innings. He struck out two. On a conservative limit, Syndergaard threw only 54 pitches. Travis Taijeron and Eric Campbell homered. Matt Reynolds, who had one hit in 16 at-bats through four games, went 2-for-4. Box
BINGHAMTON at ERIE (postponed): The game will be made up with a doubleheader Tuesday.
BREVARD COUNTY 2, ST. LUCIE 1: Brevard County retired the final 17 St. Lucie batters. The Mets scored their lone run in the first inning on a two-out triple by Matt Oberste that plated Jeff McNeil. Rob Whalen, making his first start for St. Lucie, was the tough-luck loser. He held the Manatees to two runs on eight hits in six innings. Both Manatees runs scored on groundouts. Victor Roache’s fielder’s choice in the fourth tied the score at 1. The go-ahead run scored from third on Omar Garcia’s double-play grounder in the fifth. Box
SAVANNAH 5, ROME 2 (5 innings): Jon Leroux's tiebreaking three-run double in the fifth proved the decisive hit. The game was called after that inning because of rain. Patrick Biondi was ejected in the fifth after getting called out on strikes. Gnats starter Martires Arias allowed two runs on two hits and four walks while striking out six in five innings. Leroux finished 2-for-2 with a walk and run scored in addition to the three RBIs. Box
