Buddy Carlyle lands on DL; Jack Leathersich promoted

CHICAGO -- Reliever Buddy Carlyle landed on the disabled list Wednesday with lower back and hamstring issues. Left-hander Jack Leathersich will be promoted from Triple-A Las Vegas, although he is not due to join the big league team until Thursday's matinee series finale.

Leathersich, Chasen Bradford and Zack Thornton received consideration for the call-up, but Leathersich is the only one of that trio already on the 40-man roster.

Leathersich made two late-April appearances with the Mets.

Carlyle was forced to depart Monday's series opener at Wrigley Field after back spasms intensified covering first base.

Also on the injury front:

  • Juan Lagares remains sidelined for a second straight game with a slight strain in his right armpit area. The Mets are being cautious with Lagares to let the injury calm.

  • Dillon Gee, on the DL with a groin strain, resumed throwing Tuesday. Gee may throw four to five innings in the minors as soon as this weekend.

  • David Wright has not yet resumed baseball activity. He was examined six days ago for lower-back pain and has been getting treatment.
