Mets send lefty prospect Brad Wieck to Padres

NEW YORK -- The New York Mets sent left-handed prospect Brad Wieck to the San Diego Padres on Saturday to complete the March 30 trade for left-handed reliever Alex Torres.

Wieck, 23, was 3-5 with a 3.21 ERA in 10 starts for low-A Savannah. He was drafted in the seventh round in 2014 out of Oklahoma City University.

The Mets sent right-hander Cory Mazzoni to the Padres at the time of the original trade.

Torres (2-3) suffered a blown save in Saturday's 5-3 loss in 11 innings to the Atlanta Braves. He has a 2.78 ERA, but has allowed 17 hits and 14 walks in 22 2/3 innings.

Because Wieck was drafted in June 2014, the Mets could not officially include him in the deal until a year after he signed.
