Jeurys Familia discomfort-free in return to action

MILWAUKEE -- Jeurys Familia reported no difficulty Thursday after making his first relief appearance in six days.

Familia, who had been idle since experiencing left groin tightness in Atlanta last Friday, tossed a perfect ninth inning, capped by a strikeout of Ryan Braun, to complete the New York Mets' 2-0 win against the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park. Familia converted his 20th save in 22 chances.

The closer said he would have been capable of returning to action as soon as Tuesday's series opener in Milwaukee, but his services were not required with the Mets trailing.

"When I was warming up in the bullpen, I was just thinking in my mind how I'm going to feel," Familia said. "I knew I didn't feel anything, but I was little scared. But when I threw the first couple of pitches, it was gone."
