MIAMI -- Washington Nationals phenom Bryce Harper did not appear in much of a mood to discuss the standings after the New York Mets took over sole possession of first place in the National League East.
"I don't give a crap what the Mets are doing. Or Dodgers or Giants or Texas or anybody," Harper told D.C. media after the Nats lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-4, Monday at Nationals Park, according to The Washington Post's James Wagner. "I know what kind of team we are."
Harper had been complimentary of the Mets on Sunday, after the Amazin's completed a series sweep. Harper said that day: “We saw all three of their horses (Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard) twice in a matter of two weeks. ... We're gonna have some fun and enjoy it. The Mets are a great team. It's definitely going to be a lot of fun down the stretch.”
