Rafael Montero logs three innings in rehab assignment

NEW YORK -- Making a third straight appearance on a five-day pitching cycle, New York Mets right-hander Rafael Montero logged three innings Sunday in a rehab start for Class A St. Lucie.

Montero allowed one run on two hits and two walks while recording one strikeout at Bradenton.

Montero has been on the disabled list since April 29, officially with rotator cuff tendinitis. Team doctors continually have failed to locate any issue that should have kept Montero sidelined this long, according to Mets officials.
