Mets reliever Logan Verrett summoned to Baltimore

Right-hander Logan Verrett is expected to join the New York Mets in Baltimore to serve as a reliever, although the team has not announced the corresponding move.

Verrett, 25, allowed one run on four hits and four walks in 12 1/3 innings earlier this season with the Mets. Despite his success, he was dispatched to Triple-A Las Vegas in early July when the Mets needed to clear a roster spot for the return of Jenrry Mejia from his original PED suspension.

Beyond the contributions from closer Jeurys Familia and setup man Tyler Clippard, the Mets' relief corps has performed erratically of late.

Verrett spent most of spring training with the Orioles, after being selected by that club in the Rule 5 draft.
