Scratch off Marlins' Jennings?

The Mets likely will be rebuffed in their request for permission to speak with Florida Marlins assistant GM Dan Jennings about the GM position, according to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald.

The Mets actually asked to speak with Florida president of baseball operations Larry Beinfest and GM Michael Hill as well, and were similarly rebuffed, according to Spencer.

All three signed long-term deals through 2015 -- shielding the Marlins from raiding of their executives with the tradeoff of guaranteeing contracts. Ironically, those deals were announced in the visitors' dugout at Shea Stadium a couple of years ago.
