Mets sign Ty Kelly to minor league deal

NEW YORK -- The New York Mets have signed utility player Ty Kelly to a minor-league deal with a spring-training invite.

Kelly, 27, hit a combined .226/.322/.296 in Triple-A with the St. Louis Cardinals and Toronto Blue Jays last season. He manned second base, third base and all three outfield positions.

He originally was drafted in the 13th round in 2009 by the Baltimore Orioles out of UC Davis.
