New York Mets
Not only is Ruben Tejada not in the second-base competition in spring training, Terry Collins made it clear Friday while speaking in Buffalo that Tejada would exclusively play shortstop in spring training and in Triple-A this year.
Collins reasoned that the Mets need a fallback if Reyes gets injured, so it does the organization a disservice if Tejada is dabbling at second base.
Of course, while Jose Reyes may very well be back in 2012, he is a free-agent-to-be. And Tejada is the best, closest option to replace him already in the organization.
