Reyes extends 1st-inning streak to 7 games

Jose Reyes’ first-inning bunt single extended his streak of reaching base in the first inning to seven games. It’s the longest streak since Rafael Furcal reached in nine straight games in 2009, according to ESPN Stats & Research. He is 6-for-6 with a walk in the first inning of the Mets' last seven games.

Reyes has also hit safely in eight straight games. The shortstop went hitless in the Mets’ opener against the Marlins. Since then, he has gone 12-for-34 (.353).

Reyes had a two-run double in Saturday’s 8-4 win, snapping a streak of 11 straight games without an RBI.

He also worked his first walk of the season, snapping a string of 58 at-bats without a base on balls, dating back to Sept. 28. Reyes, hitting .316 after that first inning single, is a free-agent at the end of the season.
