          Baxter demoted for Reyes

          Local product Mike Baxter was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo between games of Monday's doubleheader to clear roster room for the activation of Jose Reyes from the disabled list.

          Baxter normally would need to serve 10 days in the minors, but he will be eligible to return after the Bisons' regular season ends Sept. 5.

          Baxter was 4-for-16 with two RBIs during his major league stint.
