Minaya says Mets could add a starter

Mets general manager Omar Minaya met with a group of reporters prior to Thursday night's Mets-Philles game and acknowledged that the Mets could add a pitcher to their starting rotation via trade at some point this season.

"The past few days have been good," Minaya said, with a laugh. "[But] you always have to look at pitching."

Trade talk has been swirling of late, about two starting pitchers in particular -- the Astros' Roy Oswalt and the Mariners' Cliff Lee. Minaya could not comment on specific players on other teams.

Minaya also addressed the Major League Baseball draft on June 7. The Mets' have the seventh overall pick, and Minaya indicated he's looking for the best player available, as opposed to a player at a specific position.
