Outfielder Jesus Feliciano is not in the lineup for Monday's Triple-A Buffalo matinee against the Norfolk Tides, further signaling he will join the Mets on Tuesday for the series opener against the San Diego Padres. Feliciano, who turned 31 on Sunday, has never been in the majors.
Feliciano is hitting .385 with one homer and 21 RBIs in 53 games with the Bisons.
His agent, Melvin Roman, indicated last week that Omar Minaya told him a promotion was imminent. The Mets subsequently designated Gary Matthews Jr. for assignment, leaving no backup for Angel Pagan in center field besides Jason Bay.
Feliciano likely would have been in Flushing for the weekend series against the Florida Marlins, but Henry Blanco's neck trouble related to a herniated disc prompted the Mets to temporarily call up third catcher Omir Santos.
