Torres expects to be back after break

Andres Torres said he’s dealing with back spams, but the Mets center fielder expects he’ll be back after the All-Star break.

“I think so, I hope so,” Torres said following Friday night’s 8-7 loss to the Cubs. “A couple more days and I’ll be fine.”

Terry Collins called Torres “day-to-day” before the game, and expected that he wouldn’t play in the team’s three-game weekend series against Chicago.

“A couple more days and I’ll be fine,” Torres said. “It’s not that bad. I just have to wait before we see if something happens and it gets worse. I don’t wanna lose a few weeks, that’s why I’ll just go day by day.”

Torres has currently been undergoing hot and cold treatment, as well as ultrasound for the spasms.

He said he suffered the injury while taking a swing during an early game at-bat against Cliff Lee on Wednesday.
