Wright will undergo an MRI on Saturday, and will meet with the media afterward. While Wright has not been placed on the disabled list, utility player Mike Baxter is headed to New York from Triple-A Las Vegas, according to the team's Twitter account.
Mets manager Terry Collins doesn't expect a favorable prognosis.
"Most likely, not all that good," Collins said.
