LOS ANGELES -- Unlike Zack Wheeler and Matt Harvey, Jenrry Mejia is not on a tight innings limit the remainder of the season, Terry Collins said.

Mejia logged 108 2/3 innings last season between the majors and minors after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2011.

Because Mejia was slowed much of this season by a forearm issue and had been on the disabled list, he has only tossed 45 innings this season, giving him plenty of room to finish the year.

Mejia has indicated he will require offseason surgery to remove a bone spur from his pitching elbow.

Sandy Alderson has said Wheeler and Harvey should get close to the end of the season with a five-man rotation before reaching innings caps. Collins suggested the pitchers might be pulled from some games a little earlier than normal to shave innings, but were unlikely to get skipped.
