          Wright not ready to return

          NEW YORK -- David Wright is unlikely to return from the disabled list during the current series against the Giants, Terry Collins said.

          Collins said Wright is not ready to play, in part because he has soreness in non-injured areas from ramping up activity.

          Wright last played in a game Aug. 2, when he suffered a Grade 2 right hamstring strain.

          Collins expects Wright to return as soon as this weekend in Philly, and definitely this season.

          He has been unable to play in minor league rehab games, because those seasons have ended, so Wright instead has taken batting practice against bullpen coach Ricky Bones.

          "Unless you've been out there and doing it, you have no idea the wear and tear it takes on your body to be in that static position, ready to react -- not just the reaction itself," Collins said. "He's been a little sore -- not in the hamstring, but in the lower back and all the other things from all the groundballs and all the fielding and throwing and hitting. He's been a little stiff.

          "The day off [Monday] really helped him. He felt great today. He looked great today. We talked the other day, and we just don't feel under the circumstances he's ready to go just yet."
