          Wally Backman interviewed for a winter-ball managing gig.

          PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Wally Backman has interviewed to manage the Dominican winter-league team Aguilas Cibaeñas. The interview took place during the weekend, when Aguilas officials visited the Mets' complex and requested to meet with him.

          Backman, 54, again is due to manage Triple-A Las Vegas this season.
