BINGHAMTON 5, RICHMOND 1: Xorge Carrillo and Travis Taijeron homered and Greg Peavey allowed one run in seven innings as the B-Mets moved to within a game of capturing

Carrillo the Eastern League championship for the first time since 1994. The B-Mets lead the best-of-five series, 2-0.
After a leadoff walk to Dustin Lawley in the second, Carrillo ripped Adalberto Mejia’s 0-1 offering over the left-field wall. Carillo’s blast, his first since June 20, gave Binghamton a 2-0 lead.
Richmond scratched into the B-Mets' advantage with a run in the bottom half against Peavey. Mario Lisson doubled down the third-base line to start the rally and Devin Harris put Richmond on the board by doubling off the right-field wall.
After Carrillo’s blast, Mejia retired 15 of the next 16 batters he faced.
Peavey saved his most dominating work for the end. He retired 12 of the final 13 Squirrels he faced, striking out eight during that stretch. He capped his night by striking out the side in a perfect seventh inning.
Binghamton stretched its lead in the eighth. After Kyle Johnson took second on a groundout, Edwin Quirarte intentionally walked Brian Burgamy with two outs. Taijeron followed with a three-run homer inside the left-field foul pole, giving Binghamton a 5-1 lead.
Randy Fontantez stranded one in a scoreless eighth. Cody Satterwhite, pitching in his third straight game, worked a perfect ninth to secure Binghamton’s fourth straight postseason victory.
Peavey (1-0) struck out nine and walked none over seven innings to pick up his first postseason win as a B-Met. Mejia (0-1) surrendered two runs on three hits over six innings in the loss.
