Hefner to again undergo Tommy John

NEW YORK -- Jeremy Hefner is undergoing Tommy John surgery for the second time in less

lastname Hefner than 14 months. Dr. James Andrews will perform the procedure on Thursday morning in Pensacola, Florida.

Hefner, 28, underwent the original procedure on Aug. 28, 2013.

His comeback stalled during an Aug. 6 rehab game with Class A St. Lucie. He ultimately was diagnosed in New York with a re-injury to a ligament in his right elbow as well as a stress fracture of the ulna bone.

Mets doctor David Altchek performed Hefner's original procedure.
