Cashman: Shortstop trade market 'limited'

PHOENIX -- The Yankees, like the Mets, need to add a shortstop. So Brian Cashman's insights on what's available via trade are noteworthy from a Queens perspective, too. And the Yankees GM is not enthralled by what is available, at least at the current asking prices.

The reported shortstops on the market include the White Sox's Alexei Ramirez, Rockies' Troy Tulowitzki and Diamondbacks' Didi Gregorius.

"I think it's a limited market," Cashman said. "And I say limited in terms of availability or acquisition cost. To me, I would describe the shortstop market as limited."

A Mets insider characterized their' pursuit of Tulowitzki as no more than due diligence at this point.
