Despite the trade of Nick Franklin in July to the Tampa Bay Rays, Seattle still has a pair of promising young shortstops: 24-year-old Chris Taylor and 25-year-old Brad Miller.
Miller hit .221 with 10 homers and 36 RBIs in 367 at-bats for the Mariners this past season.
Taylor hit .287 with nine RBIs in 136 at-bats. He also hit .328 with five homers, 37 RBIs and 14 steals in 302 at-bats with Triple-A Tacoma.
