NEW YORK -- Ex-Met reliever Gonzalez Germen's whirlwind offseason has ended with him settling in with the Cubs ... at least for now.
With teams trying to open 40-man roster spots for other additions, Germen was traded by the Mets to the Yankees, then to the Texas Rangers this winter. He then was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Cubs.
Germen ultimately went through waivers with the Cubs, too, but cleared and will remain with that club as a non-roster invite to big-league camp.
Germen, 27, had a 4.75 ERA in 25 relief appearances for the Mets last season.
