PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Lucas Duda expects to begin taking batting practice Monday and enter a game Friday for the first time since spring training began.
Duda had resumed hitting off a tee Wednesday after refraining from swinging for three weeks due to a strained intercostal muscle on his left side.
Incidentally, Duda also indicated he will switch to a bigger first baseman's glove this season -- although it's only a quarter-inch bigger. It ideally will help him scoop and field more balls.
"It's not by much. It's not anything too outlandish," Duda said. "It's not like a 15-inch glove or anything. It's a little bigger. The theory behind it is the bigger the glove, the more area you cover."
