The Nets are talking about signing guard/forward Andre Emmett of the D-League’s Reno Bighorns, sources told ESPN NewYork.com. There should be an update Tuesday morning, sources said.
The 29-year-old Emmett was a second round draft pick of the Seattle SuperSonics back in 2004.
Emmett, who has played eight career NBA games, ranks fifth in the NBDL in scoring, averaging 23.7 points per game in 36.8 minutes.
The Nets have 15 guaranteed contracts on their roster, so they’d have to waive someone in order to sign Emmett.
Small forwards Damion James and Keith Bogans, who both suffered season-ending injuries, are the likely candidates, since both are in the final year of their contracts.
SB Nation’s D-League blog was the first to report Emmett’s possible signing.
