The Nets officially signed 2012 D-League All-Star Game MVP and 2007 NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion Gerald Green to a 10-day contract, the team announced Monday.
The 26-year-old Green, who has been trying to revive his NBA career with the D-League's Los Angeles D-Fenders, holds career averages of 7.5 points and two rebounds in 181 NBA games over four seasons. He last played 38 games with Dallas in 2008-09.
The 6-8 small forward, who was a first-round draft pick of the Celtics back in 2005, averaged 19.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game for the D-Fenders. The Nets are thin at small forward given the season-ending injuries to Shawne Williams and Damion James.
The Nets have an open roster spot because small forward Andre Emmett's 10-day contract expired on Wednesday.
ESPNNewYork.com reported the Green signing was imminent Sunday night.
