The New York Rangers have agreed to terms with free agent forward Ryan Haggerty, the team announced in a press release Wednesday afternoon.
The 21-year-old Stamford, CT native, who just finished his junior season at Rennsalaer Polytechnic Instititute, led the ECAC with 28 goals this year and finished second within the conference with 43 points.
Haggerty is expected to join the big club, rather than report to Hartford (AHL) though it is not immediately clear whether he will join the Rangers in St. Paul, Minnesota where they will face the Minnesota Wild Thursday night.
Prior to his three seasons at RPI, The 6-0, 200-pound Haggerty played for the U.S. Development Program.
