New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman dared Derek Jeter to test the free agent market. Team president Randy Levine pointed out that these negotiations were different than the ones from 10 years ago. The Yankees have told Jeter about their concerns for the future for a 36-year-old shortstop.
There was even the source with knowledge of the negotiations who said Jeter needed to drink the “reality potion.”
Now, Jeter will finally speak about all that went down during the past contentious month. With the Yankees officially announcing the $51-$65 million, three-year deal with a player option for a fourth, Jeter will speak at a press conference in Tampa at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
