Pedro Feliciano, acquired as a free agent this off-season to add another left-hander to the Yankees bullpen, is likely headed to the diabled list for the start of the season due to lingering soreness in an area behind his left shoulder. Feliciano last pitched in a game March 7. He has had several sessions of throwing off flat ground since but the pain has lingered, and this morning Girardi admitted "Feliciano could be in doubt for the start of the season.''
Feliciano is scheduled to throw again on Tuesday, after which a determination will be made. If Felicianno can't go, possible candidtaes to replace him in the pen are Luis Ayala, Romulo Sanchez and, the least likely, Mark Prior, who is trying to return to the major leagues after a nearly five-year absence due to injuries. All are right-handers.
