Cashman: 'A real bad day'

First, there was Michael Pineda getting bombed by the Phillies and revealing afterwards that he was experiencing soreness in the back of his pitching shoulder. He is headed for an MRI Saturday morning.

Then, a few innings later, Cesar Cabral, who was likely to win the opening for a second lefty out of the pen, told Joe Girardi and Larry Rothschild that he was in a lot of pain in his elbow. He left the ballpark with his pitching arm in a sling and buried in ice, and will have both an MRI and an X-ray Saturday morning as well.

No wonder GM Brian Cashman called Friday "a real bad day for us.''

I'm sorting through all the details and will have a news story and a column up on the website shortly.
