Agent: Mo complications [Updated]

Here is our news story.

The agent for Mariano Rivera said that the 42-year-old closer's doctor appointments did not go smoothly on Monday.

“We ran into complications,’’ agent Fernando Cuza told The Post. “I am referring to Dr. Ahmad and [Yankees general manager] Brian Cashman for further information.’’

Cashman declined to comment in detail when asked specifically about it by the Post.

On Tuesday morning, a high-ranking team official said the complications weren't that serious at this point. The Yankees were still gathering further information and, with any complications related to surgery, it can't be good news.

Rivera was seen by team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Dr. Russell Warren, a knee specialist at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Mets' team doctor, Dr. David Altchek.

After his fall last week in Kansas City, the Royals doctors diagnosed Rivera with a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a damaged meniscus in his right knee. Rivera has vowed that he will pitch again.
