Report: Cervelli accepts 50-game ban

A New York Yankee has been suspended for his involvement with the Biogenesis clinic of Coral Gables, Fla. -- but no, it isn't Alex Rodriguez. Not yet, anyway.

According to a report by FoxSports.com, Yankees catcher Francisco Cervelli is one of a dozen players who accepted 50-game suspensions from MLB on Monday. Cervelli's name was among those discovered in the records of Biogenesis when the list was published by the Miami New Times in January.

In spring training, Cervelli acknowledged having visited Biogenesis, but, he said, "I left with nothing in my hand. And that's it."

Cervelli refused to answer any further questions on the subject. Currently, he is on the disabled list after suffering a broken hand from a foul tip in May, and a subsequent elbow injury during the rehab process. His return to the Yankees was considered unlikely this season after a recent setback.

Also agreeing to a suspension, according to FoxSports.com, is Jesus Montero, the former Yankees catching prospect who was traded to he Seattle Mariners last year for pitcher Michael Pineda.
