NEW YORK -- The Yankees reached the 10-games-over-.500 mark for the first time all season -- in fact, for the first time since Sept. 13, 2013!! -- with Tuesday night's 3-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. Now they look to put more distance between themselves and the rest of the AL East -- they currently hold a 4½ game edge over the Toronto Blue Jays and five games over the Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays, with the Boston Red Sox a whopping 10 games back.
Ivan Nova, in his fifth outing since returning from Tommy John surgery, makes the start. He is 1-3 with a 3.42 ERA this season and his last two starts have not been good -- he has allowed seven earned runs in 11⅔ innings for a 5.40 ERA -- and has not won since his first start of the season back on June 24. Nova is 5-3 with a 5.03 ERA in 13 games (12 starts) against the Orioles.
