Yankees outfielder Curtis Granderson continues to produce since coming off the disabled list on May 28.
Granderson got two more hits on Thursday -- singles in the third and fifth innings. He also just missed a home run in the seventh.
Granderson is now 10-for-24 (.417 batting average) since he returned, with five extra-base hits (four doubles, one homer).
"I love what I saw from Grandy," manager Joe Girardi said after the game.
SPEAKING OF HOT HITTERS: Robinson Cano extended his hitting streak to 17 games, with a double in the first inning.
Cano is hitting .465 over this 17-game stretch, and is now one game away from his career-high hitting streak of 18 games, which he has done twice.
Cano also matched the Florida Marlins' Jorge Cantu for the longest hitting streak in the major leagues this season.
GOING, GOING ...: Alex Rodriguez hit home run No. 591 of his career in the third inning, a two-run shot to right field.
A-Rod is now 18 homers behind Sammy Sosa for No. 6 on the all-time list.
No. 5 on the all-time list is Ken Griffey Jr., A-Rod's former teammate with the Seattle Mariners, who officially retired on Wednesday. Griffey had 630 career round-trippers.
Griffey's retirement means A-Rod is now officialy Major League Baseball's career home run leader among active players.
TOTAL DOMINATION: CC Sabathia must really love pitching against the Orioles. He is now 12-1 in 16 career starts against them.
Also, Thursday's start happened to be the 300th of Sabathia's big-league career.
More good news for Sabathia: Start No. 301 will also be against the Orioles, in Baltimore next week.
SCHEDULE QUIRK: The Yankees are en route to Toronto, for a three-game series with the surprising Blue Jays this weekend.
The Jays are currently 31-24, tied with the Boston Red Sox for third place in the AL East, just three-and-a-half games behind the Yankees. The Yanks are 34-20, two games behind the 36-18 Tampa Bay Rays.
We've entered June, but this will be the first time the Yanks and Jays have met this season, even though they are division foes.
First pitch on Friday night is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. ET. A.J. Burnett (6-2, 3.28 ERA) will throw for the Yankees, facing 23-year-old Brett Cecil (5-2, 3.81).
