Will Sidney Rice provide the NFC North's first "uh-oh" moment of training camp? You have to wonder after checking out this report from Mike Max of WCCO-830 radio. Rice, who was named to his first Pro Bowl last season, told the station that his injured hip is still not 100 percent and that he plans to get checked out again by the team's medical staff before taking the field for his first practice of the summer.
RiceIt's been difficult to decipher the severity of an injury that only recently came to light. Agent Drew Rosenhaus said earlier this month that Rice hoped to be ready for the start of the regular season, while Rice told the Star Tribune that he would be ready to practice at the start of camp.
As per team policy, the Vikings haven't said much of anything on the topic. But here's what we can say with relative certainty: An injury Rice originally suffered late last season is still a topic of discussion nearly six months later. Read into that fact what you will.
We should have some answers soon enough. The Vikings are scheduled to practice Friday at 4:15 p.m. ET. If Rice isn't on the field, we'll know why.
