Packers activate Bigby but not Harris

Green Bay Packers safety Atari Bigby will be available for Sunday night's game against the Dallas Cowboys at Lambeau Field. Cornerback Al Harris and running back James Starks will not.

That's the upshot of Saturday's roster action. Bigby was added to the Packers' 53-man roster, taking the place of recently waived defensive end Mike Montgomery. The Packers have saved decisions on Harris and Starks until Monday, after which their three-week window of practice eligibility officially closes. If the Packers don't activate Harris and/or Starks by then, neither will be eligible to play this season.

Bigby's ankle injury was much less serious than Harris' knee reconstruction, and he could be in the starting lineup Sunday night. If nothing else, the Packers haven't felt rushed to bring back Harris before now because of the solid play of rookie nickelback Sam Shields.

One line of thinking has the Packers activating Harris on Monday, which would essentially give him another week of conditioning because the Packers have their bye next week. We'll keep you updated.
