Vikings to work out Cam Newton privately

As we noted Tuesday, none of the Minnesota Vikings' primary decision makers attended the pro day of Auburn quarterback Cam Newton. The Vikings do, however, plan to put through a private workout at an undisclosed location. It's expected they will do the same for most of draft's top quarterback prospects.

You could argue the Vikings would benefit from maximum exposure to all of the quarterbacks they might consider drafting, and wonder if their absence from his pro day is a tip-off. I'm guessing that vice president of player personnel Rick Spielman simply doesn't want to do his scouting in public when it comes to such an important decision. We'll find out soon enough.

In the video, Newton reviews his pro day experience with ESPN analyst Todd McShay.
