Lions: Chris Houston in, Bill Bentley out

Detroit Lions cornerback Chris Houston predicted he would return to practice Wednesday after a sprained ankle cost him two weeks. He was true to his word, his return came not a moment too soon.

Houston participated in the portion of practice open to media members, but fellow starter Bill Bentley sat out as he recovers from a concussion. The Lions continued to be without safety Louis Delmas (knee), according to reporters who covered practice.

If Houston suffers no setback, it's assumed he will start Sunday night against the San Francisco 49ers. We'll see if the Lions make any changes to their three- and four-cornerback groupings during practice this week. In last Sunday's season-opening victory over the St. Louis Rams, the Lions relied on Jacob Lacey (57 snaps, according to Pro Football Focus), Drayton Florence (32) and rookie Jonte Green (eight snaps) after Bentley's injury.
