Calvin Johnson: 117 yards down, 65 to go

Calvin Johnson's first reception Saturday night went for 49 yards and he has been off to the races ever since. Johnson has set one NFL record and is closing in on a second at halftime of the Detroit Lions' game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Johnson has 117 receiving yards on six receptions, his eighth consecutive 100-yard game. That is now the longest streak of 100-yard receiving games in NFL history.

The total leaves him just 65 receiving yards away from breaking Jerry Rice's record for receiving yards in a season. At that rate, he'll surpass Rice before the fourth quarter Saturday night.

Johnson has caught all but one of the seven passes quarterback Matthew Stafford has targeted him on.

I'm keeping track of Johnson's progress over on Twitter (@espn_nfcnblog). I'm guessing NFC North readers don't have much interest in discussing the actual game, which the Falcons lead 21-6 at halftime.
