Jay Cutler talks Titans rumors, Brandon Marshall trade

In his first public comments of the offseason, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler covered a variety of topics Tuesday with the Chicago media.

Here is a list of the highlights from Cutler's Q&A session with reporters following the team's voluntary minicamp practice at Halas Hall.

Cutler on his uncertain future in Chicago despite inking a massive extension in January 2013 that included $54 million in total guarantees: "Yeah, you never know. You never know how it's going to go, especially with a new GM, new coaches, a whole different philosophy maybe; a whole different way that they want players to play. Who knows? You never know what's going to happen. All the interactions I've had have been positive."

The quarterback on the never-ending trade rumors to the Tennessee Titans: "We're in Nashville quite a bit so you hear a lot about it. I think now, from January to April, there is so much time and there are so many rumors, you can't keep them straight from week to another. You've just got to avoid it and ignore it and if it happens, it happens."

Cutler discusses the loss of former No. 1 wide receiver Brandon Marshall. Did Cutler influence the Bears to trade Marshall to the New York Jets? "No. Didn't have anything to do with it. I think that's Ryan and Fox and the new staff -- they evaluated everybody, including myself and that's the direction they want to go. Love Brandon like a brother. Known him for a long time. Played with him for a long time. We've had our ups-and-downs and back-and-forths. I wish him the best of luck. I know he's going to do well there."

Cutler on the hiring of offensive coordinator Adam Gase: "Exciting. He brings a lot of energy. Him, Dowell [Loggains], the rest of the offensive staff. I think that's what you notice when you walk in the building with those guys -- all the energy they bring. Innovative. Smart. It's a joy to work with these guys right now. Some of the stuff is all new. I think he's doing a great job of kind of creating stuff that we're going to be good at. I don't think he really is going to figure that out until we get more practices in and he can kind of see what we have offensively."

Cutler revisits the miserable 2014 season where he got benched in Week 16: "So much stuff that happened that went wrong. You just try to focus on yourself and find little things to get better at each year. With this staff, we've kind of taken some of the stuff from last year and took a look at it, but I'm just trying to move forward at this point. I think everyone was missing confidence. When you're dropping games the way that we did, it gets tough. Things went south I feel like in a hurry but at this point a lot of that stuff is behind us and we're just moving forward."
