The Buccaneers didn’t make the playoffs, but they got a nice consolation prize today. Quarterback Josh Freeman was named the NFC’s offensive player of the week for the final week of the regular season.

Freeman completed 21 of 26 passes for 255 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions and compiled a 133.2 quarterback rating in a 23-13 victory against the New Orleans Saints. Freeman also extended his team-record streak of games with at least one touchdown pass to 13. He also has thrown 109 consecutive passes without an interception.

Freeman finished the season with 25 touchdown passes and six interceptions. That touchdown-to-interception ratio ranks ninth in NFL history. New England’s Tom Brady established a new record this season with 36 touchdowns and four interceptions.
